Mainframe Modernization

The State’s IT mainframe technology is the backbone for processing many critical citizen services. Applications and services that will be aided by modernization include:

  • The Labor Unemployment Insurance program will benefit from reduced processing spikes that risk delays affecting assistance delivery to workers and families facing negative circumstances due to the pandemic.
  • State and local law enforcement applications will receive much-needed processing improvements. The National Incident-Based Reporting System is one such application that is critical to crime identification, reporting, and addressing both violent and gun crime as a result of the pandemic.
  • Citizens are dependent upon local government to remain accessible during accidental and natural disasters. Delaware’s single solution for all Law Enforcement Agencies resides on the Mainframe. Modernization will provide Disaster Recovery utilizing technology that is currently unavailable. Modernizing the mainframe will ultimately aid the State resulting in reduced hardware/software costs, improved agility, and increased ability to leverage Cloud benefits.
